Pink represents an exploration into how architectural figures can be represented in color hearkening back to the style of Pop Art. Of the eight figures generated by combining and subtracting figures to create dynamic forms, I selected figure 7 to begin my exploration.
Figure 7 is organized around a void both in plan and in section. As one rotates around the figure the organization created by these voids becomes apparent. Two towering arms are raised above the figure separated by the void. One arm smoothly transitions into the face of the figure, whilst the other almost appears to have been added in a move of addition. Very different principles are explored on either side of the figure.
The experiment of contouring the figure with color let me "flatten" the representation of the 3D figure. In the first image depth is quite apparent. In the Second the viewer may view the figure as a flat image wrapping on itself. The experiment also endeavored to show mapping of the figure and a connection to the ground.
